“With adventure in our eyes and Fort Worth in the distance,
I put that pedal down, trying to avoid the rearview mirror,
but these strings on our hearts are growing thinner every mile.”
– from “Fort Worth, TX”
Shawn Clark writes music straight from the heartland. At a Shawn Clark Family Band show, you might hear a Hank Williams, Sr. classic, an obscure Marty Robbins tune, or, most often, Shawn’s own original songs delivered in his confident baritone.
Inspired by Townes Van Zandt’s rendition of the Rolling Stones’ “Dead Flowers” in The Big Lebowski, Shawn set out to create music that carries that same timeless, soulful storytelling. Just a few years later, he released two albums and formed the Shawn Clark Family Band—a tight-knit group of musicians dedicated to bringing old-style country music to a modern audience. Recently he has released several singles in 2025 and plans to release a song a month, accumulating to a full album at the end of 2025.
With songs like “Foot Taps on Hardwood Floors,” “The Needle is a Skippin,” and “Wasn’t Lookin’ for Love,” Shawn Clark explores the joy of new love, the ache of lost love, and the risks of falling fast when you never expected to.
A Texas native now calling Central California home, Shawn and his band have played major stages including seven consecutive years at the California Mid-State Fair, the main stage at Whale Rock Music Festival, and the main stage at the Coyote Music Festival. They’ve also shared the stage with acts like Sam Outlaw, Dylan Earl, Shawn James, Gil Landry of Old Crow Medicine Show, and The Ragged Jubilee, and even headlined Kurt Russell’s 70th birthday. Their performances draw local crowds throughout San Luis Obispo County while attracting attention from promoters and radio stations as far away as Europe.
The Shawn Clark Family Band continues to carry the spirit of classic country, delivering heartfelt storytelling and honest music to every stage they play.
